Any journey around Moscow must begin, of course, from the Red Square and the Kremlin. Red Square is the most famous and main square of Moscow, located near the walls of the Kremlin. Here is a place of origin, a monument to Minin and Pozharsky and the Mausoleum of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. The Kremlin is an old fortress on the banks of the Moscow River, the residence of Moscow princes and kings, as well as the subsequent rulers of Russia, including modern heads of state. There are many interesting museums on its territory.
The Kremlin itself, as well as the museums on its territory, are accessible to the public and are open on schedule. The Assumption, Archangel, Blagoveshchensk cathedrals and a number of churches are located on the territory of the Kremlin. Visiting the Kremlin, you can see the Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell. Arriving in Moscow, one cannot but walk along the pedestrian zone of the Old Arbat, from the Arbat Gate Square to the Smolensk Square, look into the nearby lanes, get acquainted with the monuments of architecture and the history of the Arbat - one of the oldest streets in Moscow. On the Old Arbat you can see the opening days of young artists, performances of street musicians and, of course, buy souvenirs with symbols of Moscow and Russia.
One of the most important sights of Moscow - the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, restored and open to the public in 2000, has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century. The large-scale building in the Russian-Byzantine style is distinguished by the luxury of its external and internal decoration. After visiting the temple, you can climb the Patriarchal pedestrian bridge connecting the Cathedral of Christ the Savior with Bersenevskaya Embankment, where a magnificent view of the Kremlin opens. On the opposite side of the Kremlin stands the Monument to Peter the Great, and from the bridge you can see the 11-storey House on the embankment, which served as the residence of scientists, writers, government officials and other prominent figures of the USSR.
Also worth a look at the Sparrow Hills - a green array on the banks of the river, a beautiful park with alleys. Here, in front of the Moscow State University building, there is a viewing platform with the best panoramic view of Moscow in the city, a pedestrian quay and a river station.
It is interesting to spend time visiting the Kremlin in Izmailovo - this is a historical trade and museum complex where you can buy souvenirs, visit museums, take a walk in the picturesque park with a pond and take memorable photos.
There are more than sixty museums in Moscow, of which the Tretyakov Gallery, the Polytechnic, the Historical, the Zoological Museums, the Museum of Anthropology, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the Botanical and Zoological Gardens (Moscow Zoo) should be highlighted.
