Moscow
Information about the region
Moscow is not just the capital of Russia, it is the political, business, administrative, financial and cultural center of our country. This surprisingly beautiful city is among the ten largest megacities of the world with a population of approximately 15 million people.
The main transport hub of the country has been created in Moscow: six airports, nine railway stations and three river ports. Cozy patriarchal courtyards and streets contrast with futuristic business centers, and densely built-up residential areas border with extensive parks.
Our capital is able to satisfy any passion: thousands of entertainment and sports centers, restaurants and hotels are waiting for those who want to relax. Hundreds of educational institutions are ready to provide knowledge to everyone, and for lovers of the beautiful in the city a lot of attractions - museums, theaters, galleries and monuments.
Traveling around Moscow... more
The Kremlin itself, as well as the museums on its territory, are accessible to the public and are open on schedule. The Assumption, Archangel, Blagoveshchensk cathedrals and a number of churches are located on the territory of the Kremlin. Visiting the Kremlin, you can see the Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell. Traveling around the Kremlin, we recommend visiting the famous Manege Square and Alexander Garden, behind the cast-iron grill of which is the Eternal Flame and the famous Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Arriving in Moscow, one cannot but walk along the pedestrian zone of the Old Arbat, from the Arbat Gate Square to the Smolensk Square, look into the nearby lanes, get acquainted with the monuments of architecture and the history of the Arbat - one of the oldest streets in Moscow. On the Old Arbat you can see the opening days of young artists, performances of street musicians and, of course, buy souvenirs with symbols of Moscow and Russia.
One of the most important sights of Moscow - the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, restored and open to the public in 2000, has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century. The large-scale building in the Russian-Byzantine style is distinguished by the luxury of its external and internal decoration. After visiting the temple, you can climb the Patriarchal pedestrian bridge connecting the Cathedral of Christ the Savior with Bersenevskaya Embankment, where a magnificent view of the Kremlin opens. On the opposite side of the Kremlin stands the Monument to Peter the Great, and from the bridge you can see the 11-storey House on the embankment, which served as the residence of scientists, writers, government officials and other prominent figures of the USSR.
Also worth a look at the Sparrow Hills - a green array on the banks of the river, a beautiful park with alleys. Here, in front of the Moscow State University building, there is a viewing platform with the best panoramic view of Moscow in the city, a pedestrian quay and a river station.
It is interesting to spend time visiting the Kremlin in Izmailovo - this is a historical trade and museum complex where you can buy souvenirs, visit museums, take a walk in the picturesque park with a pond and take memorable photos.
There are more than sixty museums in Moscow, of which the Tretyakov Gallery, the Polytechnic, the Historical, the Zoological Museums, the Museum of Anthropology, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, the Botanical and Zoological Gardens (Moscow Zoo) should be highlighted. In addition to state museums in the capital, there are many private art galleries, many of which specialize in contemporary art. There are large exhibition spaces (Central House of Artists, Manege Exhibition Hall and others). Choose to your taste.
Moscow has more than 100 theaters, of which the Bolshoi Theater, the Maly Theater, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, the Sovremennik Theater, the Lenkom Theater, the Taganka Theater, and the Peter Fomenko Theater are the most popular.
